Hi, My name is Alexandra Diebels. I have a lovely family, my husband Zac and our two adorable dogs. By day, I am a personal assistant and at night Sew & Stitch is my opportunity to work on my passion for sewing and creating great fabric work. I love to sew and the scissors have not left my hands for almost 12 years now! I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Marketing & Design from California State University at Sacramento. With that, I want to take my work to the next level. Sew & Stitch is the place for me to showcase my new and latest fabric work.
Here are some photos of Zac & two of my dogs, who keep me company while I sew.
My favorite Sew & Stitch Project are Memory Quilts:
These quilts are great as a gift or even for yourself! They allow you to cherish old memories or showcase a journey. A memory quilt can be made from Sports Shirts, such as soccer, football, baseball etc., high school t-shirts, or even old Band t-shirts.
Quilts can be made using 12, 16, or 18 t-shirts. Each shirt is cut into a 12″x12″ square, interfaced, and sewn together. I use both machine and hand stitching on each quilt to ensure that the quality is at its best. The quilt will also have a 6” border around the perimeter, cotton blend batting, and a backing put on.
The color of the border and the backing are in the color of your choice! I use 100% cotton flannel, each is preshrunk so they can be washed and dried in the machine on delicate.
Here is my feature on News10, which aired December 2010, to explain a little more about what I do!
Hello There, I’m Alexandra Diebels. The crafty hands behind Sew & Stitch. I love everything fashion, shabby chic and rock n roll.
